American Geriatrics Society Health in Aging

HealthinAging.org is a trusted source for up-to-date information and advice on health and aging, created by the American Geriatrics Society’s Health in Aging Foundation.

The Health in Aging Foundation advances a commitment to helping older adults and caregivers maintain health, independence, and quality of life. HealthinAging.org features topical education materials for older adults and caregivers that can be searched alphabetically, wellness and prevention tips, information on common medications and driving safety for aging adults, as well as information on finding a geriatrics healthcare professional in your area. These tools have been reviewed by geriatrics healthcare professionals and members of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS)—a community of experts in the care we all need as we age.

GWEP Age-Friendly Care and Education Collection

The Age-Friendly Care and Education Collection is part of Minnesota Northstar GWEP, supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

This Education collection highlights educational and clinical resources for educators, health professionals, learners, and others interested in improving care for older adults. The fully searchable collection includes full citations and links to resources deemed of high quality by experts in aging care, education, and research.

National Association for Geriatric Education (NAGE)

The National Association for Geriatric Education (NAGE) is a non-profit membership organization representing geriatric education centers and other groups and organizations that provide education and training to health professionals in the areas of geriatrics and gerontology. NAGE is dedicated to improving the education, supply, distribution, diversity, and quality of health professionals serving older adults, and to educate policy makers and the public about the need for geriatric education.

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA)

Founded in 1945, GSA is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. GSA’s principal mission is to promote the study of aging and disseminate information to scientists, decision makers, and the general public.

GSA is the driving force behind advancing innovation in aging both domestically and internationally.

American Geriatrics Society (AGS)

The AGS is a nationwide, not-for-profit society of geriatrics healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health, independence, and quality of life of older people.  Members of the AGS include geriatricians, geriatrics nurse practitioners, social workers, family practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and internists who are pioneers in advanced-illness care for older individuals, with a focus on championing interprofessional teams, eliciting personal care goals, and treating older people as whole persons. The AGS provides leadership to healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public by implementing and advocating for programs in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy.
